Queen’s Hospital brings allergy testing in-house
Specialist testing at district general hospital powered by Siemens 3g Allergy on the IMMULITE 2000

Queen’s Hospital in Romford, part of Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, has brought its allergy testing in-house to deliver cost savings and improve outcomes.  To manage the new service the Biochemistry team integrated the testing alongside routine work on the existing IMMULITE® 2000 System from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics by utilising the Siemens 3gAllergy test.

NICE consults on two new medical technology devices

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) today (5 January) opens consultations on two new medical technology devices: a mattress to prevent inadvertent hypothermia during surgery, and a ‘sticking plaster’ used to treat non-melanoma skin cancer. These medical technology guidance drafts were produced by the Medical Technologies Advisory Committee (MTAC), which is part of the Evaluation Pathway Programme for Medical Technologies.
