The innovative Urisys 1100 offers new levels of operator security in point of care urinalysis

Roche pioneers advanced authorised access and password protection to minimize risk and enhance security in POC urinalysis

Roche Diagnostics is pleased to announce that the Urisys 1100, in combination with Roche’s cobas® IT1000 point of care (POC) data management system, now offers advanced operator access and password protection in order to minimise risk and further enhance the security of POC urinalysis.  Roche is the first manufacturer to offer a POC urinalysis system with password lockout.  The Urisys 1100 enables POC coordinators to ensure that only fully trained and authorised personnel are able to access and use the analysers.

Used in conjunction with the robust and reliable Combur® Urine Test Strips, the Urisys 1100 is a fully automated urine test strip analyser.  Providing rapid, standardised results, it eliminates the limitations and potential errors associated with the manual reading of test strips.  Furthermore, the Combur® Test Strips are highly resistant to ascorbic acid interference, ensuring accurate and sensitive results in the vitamin C-susceptible blood and glucose test fields.

The Urisys 1100 utilises highly effective reflectance photometry to evaluate a wide range of urinary parameters, including specific gravity, pH, leukocytes, nitrites, proteins, glucose, ketones, urobilinogen, bilirubin and blood.  The test procedure is fully automated, from incubation and interpretation to results.  The Urisys 1100 also corrects for specific gravity in high alkaline samples and compensates for urine colour.

The compact size, virtually maintenance-free operation and excellent performance of the Urisys 1100 make it ideal for the POC environment.  Once the patient sample has been introduced, the urine test strip is placed on the instrument and results are available in less than 70 seconds.

Sample identification is automatic and sequential, patient identification may be entered using a barcode reader or PC keyboard.  The advanced operator identification and password protection are now available within the United Kingdom and Ireland.  For further information, please contact your local Roche Diagnostics representative, telephone Graeme Wootton (Market Manager) on 01444 256000 (email graeme.wootton@roche.com) or visit the Roche website at www.roche-diagnostics.co.uk.
