Trilateral Workshop French Embassy Berlin *16-17 June 2010*
Role and Significance of In Vitro-Diagnostics
in the Healthcare Systems of the Future The increased use of In Vitro diagnostics (IvD) in healthcare is largely driven by their increasing use in chronic disease management (eg diabetes), pressure on healthcare providers to improve turnaround times, the use of point-of-care tests to reduce costs and their increasing use in non-hospital settings.
To reflect the increasing importance of the multi-billion
dollar IvD sector ($40.8bn globally in 2009) to the
European economy, the French and British Embassies in
Germany are jointly organising a workshop on the „Role
and Significance of In Vitro Diagnostics in the health care
systems of the future“.
The aim of the workshop is to present the state of the art
in research, application and policy-making in the area of
IvD in France, Germany and the UK. The workshop also
seeks to facilitate trilateral cooperation between
companies, academics and regulators.
The workshop will consist of thematic sessions and
chaired discussion on the following subjects:
- Present status of IvD in healthcare systems
- Point of care testing
- The search for new biomarkers
- IvD and prevention
- IvD diagnostics and therapy
The workshop will take place on 16-17 June 2010 in the
French Embassy in Germany, Pariser Platz 5, Berlin.
