New data using EKF PointMan™ technology suggest the possibility of a simple blood test for cancers

New Iam HSV provides rapid molecular confirmation of HSV infection in pregnant women and neonates

DiaSorin has further strengthened its range of infectious disease diagnostic assays for maternal and neonatal health with the launch of Iam HSV for use with the DiaSorin Liaison® Iam analyser.  The launch of this new molecular assay provides rapid and reliable differential detection of herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2) in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), vesicle swabs, plasma and whole blood.

Blood test for Alzheimer’s moves considerably closer

Proteome Sciences is pleased to announce publication of a study it has co-authored with King’s College London in which a set of 10 proteins in the blood have been identified which can predict the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. The study which analysed over 1,000 individuals is the largest of its kind to date and marks a significant step towards developing a blood test for the disease.

Derby Hospital NHS FoundationTrust Selects Hologic’s ThinPrep Technology for Cervical Screening Programme

Five‐year contract makes Royal Derby Hospital largest ThinPrep processing lab in the UK  

BEDFORD, Mass., July 7, 2014 ‐ Hologic, Inc. today announced it entered into a five‐year contract for its ThinPrep Pap tests and processing equipment with Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. With this agreement, Royal Derby Hospital will be the largest ThinPrep processing laboratory in the UK with an estimated 150,000 samples processed annually.
